Chicken Jerky

Looking for a way to treat your pup but avoiding treats from China due to all the scary ingredients? This simple Chicken Jerky Dog Treats recipe is a great way to do just that. Just like us, the best diet for your canine is one lacking in artificial ingredients and comprised of mainly whole foods. Just 3 simple ingredients make up this yummy chew and with a bit more seasoning is even edible for people consumption! That is if your dog will share, mine wouldn’t dream of giving up their chicken treats! You will probably have a little wagging audience while they cook, so be prepared. :)

Chicken Jerky Dog Treats Ingredients:

Chicken Jerky Dog Treats Directions:

To make chicken easier to slice, place in freezer until slightly firm. This will make your sharp knife slice right through it.

Slice chicken into very thin strips, the thinner and the more even the better- this will help them cook faster and more evenly.

Toss chicken strips in bowl with a sprinkle of parsley and a drizzle of olive oil- just enough to lightly coat your chicken.

Place on baking sheet and bake in preheated oven preheated to 180° to 200° ( the lowest setting your oven allows) for 5-6 hours. Turn frequently, and cook until chewy and very little moisture remains.

Remove from oven, allow to cool completely.

Store in an airtight container for 2-3 weeks.

Note: It is not necessary to refrigerate, I do just to be safe and I know they will stay fresh a little while longer.

Also Note: You can also use a dehydrator instead of an oven to make jerky treats for your pup.

We hope your dogs enjoy these Chicken Jerky Dog Treats as much as ours do!

These are some of the easiest dog treats you can make. The hardest part is just waiting for them to cook and having your dogs salivating until they are ready. :)

Sounds yummy! I can’t wait for my dog mom to make these. She hates buying treats with a bunch of chemicals in them.

This sounds wonderful!! I never know what kind of ingredients they use in their treats. I was wondering though…How long do we keep them in a dehydrator?

    1. Homemade Dog Treats

I think it varies on what dehydrator you have. I would look at your dehydrator manual or online instructions for homemade jerky and follow the instructions from there. Thank you for stopping by, and I hope your dog loves these Chicken Jerky Treats! :)
