Today I have a yummy (to them) cat treat for your favorite feline. These Sardine and Flax Seed Cat Treats are made with lots of healthy ingredients like sardines and parsley to not only make the flavor appealing but boost your pets nutrition and health. Making your own treats at home instead of grabbing a bag of processed snacks from the store keeps additives, preservatives, coloring, and excessive sodium out of them- a bonus for a beloved kitty. These cat treats take less than 20 minutes and make a large batch to keep on hand for purr inducing cat treats. If you don’t have a very small (½” diameter or smaller) cutter you can use the lid to a medicine or water bottle like I did to create small circles.
Sardine and Flax Seed Cat Treats Ingredients:
- 1 3-4 oz. package of Sardines
- ½ cup whole wheat flour
- 2 Tbsp. Flax seed
- ¼ cup parsley
- 1 egg
- 2 tsp. coconut oil
Sardine and Flax Seed Cat Treats Instructions:
Preheat oven to 350.
Line baking sheet with parchment paper or aluminum foil for easy clean up.
Stir together flour, flax seed, and parsley.
Place sardines, oil, and egg in food processor or blender and mix until finely pureed.
Combine wet ingredients with dry, stir to combine.
Flip dough out onto flour lined counter, press to ¼” thickness with your hands, dough will be sticky.
Cut out small squares or use very small cookie cutters to make shapes.
Bake on cookie sheet for 10-12 minutes.
You want them hard and crunchy, this will help remove plaque from your cats teeth.
Allow to cool and store them in an airtight container for up to a month.
We hope our feline friends love these Homemade Cat Treats, too!

Hello.
Is Sardine in oil or water.
Thanks
Hello! We used sardines in olive oil. Water should be fine too. Just keep an eye on the amount of sodium. Have a nice day and thanks for stopping by! :)
